Regular perineal massage is a simple way to keep your pelvic floor muscles in good working order. Perineal massage releases tense pelvic floor muscles, helping the muscles reach their optimal stretched state, a.k.a. resting length. If the resting length is reduced because muscles are tense, the muscles won’t contract as well as they could, and that can have an impact on everything from bladder control to comfort during sex.
